"From Folk to Funk" explores a panopoly of music inspired by the riches of folk cultures...from Norwegian fairy-tales to Chinese folk instruments to American funk music.

Interweaving story-telling and narration with music, the show features violinist Shaw Pong Liu (Eisner/Souza Prize; "Fantasy, Legend, Poeme"), saxaphonist Jonah Minton (Married Couple), cellist Jody Redhage (Manhattan School of Music), violinist Alisa rose (Philboyd Studge), guitarist adam Roszkiewicz (SFCM Guitar Ensemble), bassist Rob Ewing (Married Couple), and other guest artists performing original pieces and works of Bartok, Piazzolla, Kodaly, Brustad, and more.

Sponsored by the U.C. Berkeley Music Department, the Youth Employment Partnership, Inc., and Cafe de la Paz.
